What is metallic paint?

Metallic paints are distinguished from other paint types with the way they are produced and their chemical structure. Its main feature is to reflect light.

The metallic paint applied on the topcoat gives a shiny metallic appearance to the applied surface thanks to the metallic-looking pearlescent pigments it contains. In fact, the main reason is that these pigments reflect light and the eyes perceive this light play as the brightness of the paint .

How to Apply Metallic Paint?

It may vary according to the surface structure and the type of paint to be used, but metallic paint is generally used in the top coat of interior facades.

The homogeneous spread of the paint is important in metallic paint application to obtain the desired texture on the wall. For this reason, when the paint can is opened for the first time, it is necessary to mix the paint with the help of a spatula or mixer.

Metallic paint is applied to the primed, dry and smooth surface. If the surface is not smooth, it can be sanded a little before starting the application. A tape can be applied to the surfaces that the paint will not touch. After the painting process is completed, the tape is removed. Thus, the paint does not touch those surfaces.

Metallic paint is applied to the wall with a recommended brush, roller or trowel according to the properties of the paint and the wall. If two layers are going to be applied, desired patch patterns can be applied with the required application tool (brush, trowel, roller, etc.) after the first layer is applied and has dried.

The environment should not be too hot or too cold during the application and drying time of the paint. The recommended room temperature is between approximately + 5 ° C and + 35 ° C. After the paint dries, it does not require a different process and is ready to use.
